    wenn ich mir einen Karobbaum-XXL ertausche; habe aber den Grundbaum nicht, kann ich den dann trotzdem "pflanzen"?

    Leider nein, du brauchst du zu dem Upgrade auch einen Grundbaum, damit du dieses darauf platzieren kannst.
